UCIE’s mission is to synchronize and synergize the interactions between various stakeholders of Entrepreneurship Ecosystem with utmost importance on enabling young students to become successful entrepreneur through our structured programs and events. A year wise brief snapshot of events conducted by UCIE to promote Entrepreneurship in UPES is as given below:

Ø The start of the year saw UCIE hosting the Startup weekend in association with Young India at UPES Bidholi campus on 22nd January 2016.
Ø In February a team of Students went to Delhi to participate in TiE startup Meet to present their ideas to potential investors.
Ø UCIE launched its flagship program 2nd Annual Business Plan Competition on 15th February 2016. A total of 152 entries were received from students of UPES and other colleges/universities. Top three teams were given a prize of INR One Lakh, INR Fifty Thousand and INR Twenty Five Thousand respectively.
Ø UCIE team along with students participated in a seminar conducted by CII Uttarakhand State Council on its Annual Day with the theme “Partnerships, Innovations & ICT for Skill Development”, on Thursday, 3rd March 2016 at Hotel Madhuban, Dehradun. The objectives of the discussions at this session were to explore new models for partnerships, innovations and role of technology in improving skills development in the State.
Ø A session on Startup Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development by Mr. Romesh Sharma was done on 7th April 2016 at Board Room Bidholi Campus UPES to help students understand various issues associated with starting a Business.
Ø UCIE as part of its initiative to foster the growth of young entrepreneurs conducted an interactive session for students on 9th April 2016 to present their ideas to Mr. Pulkit Garg, Leader; Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Yi Dehradun Chapter.
Ø Providing a platform to aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their ventures, Lufthansa in partnership with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) held a first of its kind Startup Expo in Gurugram on 23rd April 2016. Twelve teams of UPES participated in startup Expo. Student Ideas were appreciated as well as their efficiency of work.
Ø IMS meetup was held at IMS University on 23 April'16 in order to sensitize the students. An E-cell was launched with support from Yi and UPES.
Ø UCIE participated in “The Millennium Alliance” conference conducted by FICCI & USAID on 20th May 2016 at Hotel Softel Plaza, Subhash Nagar Chowk, Saharanpur Road, Dehradun. The event presented an avenue for the incubatee organizations to know more about the funding patterns and processes of USAID.
Ø Beginning of June saw the UCIE team drafted the Deferred Placement Policy and UCIE Incubation policy for streamlining the processes and structure of UCIE and the same was presented to higher authorities of UPES administration.
Ø Dr. Ajit Kumar Nigam represented UCIE in a meeting on 5th July conducted at Graphic Era University to discuss and chalk out the Startup Policy of Uttarakhand Government.
Ø Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation has organized 1st Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Lecture and a Session on Technology Trends and Future Research Directions for India on 10 August 2016 in New Delhi. Dr. Ajit Kumar Nigam participated in this event to focus on interaction & networking between Industry Leaders and Academicians of renowned educational institutions of India.
Ø UCIE hosted senior officials from SIDBI to discuss the funding options from SIDBI that can be used by UCIE incubatee Organizations for promoting/scaling up their businesses. SIDBI Officials invited UCIE team and Selected students from UCIE incubatee organizations to participate in an Interactive Meet on Startup and Funding option to be conducted by SIDBI on 9th September 2016.
Ø Dr. Ajit Kumar Nigam represented UCIE in a meeting with Industries Association of Uttarakhand on 23rd August 2016. A presentation was done by Dr. Nigam on UPES Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to explain its Objectives and activities. This was followed by a discussion on common areas of interest for both IAU and UPES in terms of building Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Uttarakhand.
Ø Rendition is a Talk event to bring forward the work and ideas of people around us so as to give them a wider audience and to spread such ideas in order to encourage people to dare to think big. The ultimate aim is to encourage social entrepreneurship and related ideas. The first Rendition was conducted on 3rd September 2016 at with four speakers and more than 100 students including Faculty members as well as staff of UPES.
Ø UCIE team helped Vembryo and EYI in conducting an interactive session on Startups of Dehradun region. The event was conducted at Hotel Madhuban on 6th September 2016. 14 incubatee organizations from UPES were shortlisted for participating in the next step of this event to present their Ideas to Honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on 17th September at Doon Business Park.
Ø Vembryo in association with EYI conducted final stage of its startup event at Doon Business Park on 17th September 2016. Towards the end of session Honorable CM Mr. Harish Rawat announced a Cash Prize for all 14 teams of UCIE for effectively explaining and displaying their ideas. CII conducted two days National Startup Conclave at Delhi on 20th -21st September 2016. Dr. Ajit Kumar Nigam represented UCIE at this event. The event included a speech by Dr. Nigam on sectoral performance of Startups in India. Dr. Nigam also moderated a panel discussion of Young CEOs/Founders of early stage Startups.
Ø UCIE in association with Toastmasters Uttarakhand conducted an introductory session on 7th October 2016 for members of Incubatee organization for improving their communication skills. A total of 45 students participated in this event. Toastmasters will be meeting with UCIE in October end to finalize the creation of a Students Chapter of Toastmaster’ at UCIE.
Ø UCIE hosted Mr. Vinit Goenka (Member IT Task Force at Ministries of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways, Government of India) on 21st October 2016 to talk at UCIE on IT and its usage in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Goenka interacted with incubatee organizations to help them understand the importance of ICT in effectively and efficiently running a startup.
Ø UCIE in association with SIDBI conducted a debate on “Public Participation in eradication of Corruption” at UCIE office on 4th November 2016. Team of SIDBI was headed by Mr. Prashant Sardar, Regional General Manager Uttarakhand.
Ø As a part of Global Entrepreneurship week UCIE along with Industries Association of Uttarakhand and Govt. of Uttarakhand organized Walkathon on 21st November 2016. The CM of Uttarakhand, Mr. Harish Rawat appreciated the efforts taken by UCIE UPES and the IAU, and asked the students to make the city a better place. He thanked all for attending this initiative and said that it is the true exhibition of determination.
Ø UCIE organized a startup BOOTCAMP for STARTUP WEEKEND DEHRADUN on 31st January 2017. The participants got introduced to the concept of Startup Weekend and got familiar to the concepts of business formulation.
Ø UCIE in association with TechStar and Global Shapers organized the startup weekend from 10th February-12th February 2017 at UPES. This paved way for organizing the Startup Weekend, an event of 54 hours spanned across three days comprsing of interactive and brainstorming sessions of aspiring Entrepreneurs , Mentors and Industry Experts.
Ø UCIE hosted Mr. Ashok Soota, Founder Mind Tree Pvt Ltd on 24th March 2017 to deliver a talk to members of Incubatee organizations of UCIE and other students of University who are interested in Entrepreneurship.
Ø It is a matter of great prestige and honor for all of us that Ms. Pramiti Upadhyay, Founder of SOCH; an incubatee Organization of UPES Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (UCIE) has been selected as an honoree in the student/graduate category of the 2017 “Laureate Here for Good Awards”.
Ø As the Centre moves further and starts playing a pivotal role in building startup ecosystem in Uttarakhand region, it would be working as Knowledge Partner with JumpStart; Jumpstart is the first co-working hub and incubator in the private sector in Uttarakhand located in the heart of Dehradun.
Ø UCIE incubatee organization members and students of UPES attended a workshop on 8th August 2017 at DIT Dehradun. The workshop on MUDRA, standup/startup scheme of central /State governments and a brief insight in to Uttarakhand MSME policy- 2015 was organized by Industries Association of Uttarakhand at DIT University. The workshop focused on spreading awareness amongst the budding entrepreneurs about MUDRA, Startups/Standups, MSMEs and the Credit financing institutions.
Ø UCIE in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and industry conducted a seminar on 7th September 2017. The objective of this seminar was to provide an opportunity to Startup Entrepreneurs and Researchers to accelerate the development of their start up with special focus on SMEs and Rural startups.
Ø A session on Startup Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development by Mr. Bal Jinder Sharma was conducted on 12th September 2017 at Vivekananda Auditorium Bidholi Campus UPES to help students understand various issues associated with starting a Business.
Ø UCIE organized a seminar on 'Intellectual Property Rights' on 24th of October in Vivekananda auditorium, UPES. The session dwelled upon learning how an innovation in a business idea is protected and hence know more about IPR.
Ø UCIE organized Debate Competition, theme “My Vision-Corruption Free India”, on 1st November 2017, witnessing a higher level of participation of the students of University. The event was well organized in association with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and UPES Literary Club “Connoisseur”.
Ø The Singapore Fin-Tech Festival 2017 took place between 13th and 17th November 2017 and comprised of a number of things including Innovation lab Crawl, Exhibition and Conferences. The delegation from Uttarakhand was led by Director Industries Shri Rajesh Kumar and comprised of Shri Sudhir Nautiyal Additional Director and Shri Rajendra, Deputy Director. Dr Ajit Nigam Associate Dean- Intubation was an invitee and joined the delegation from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.
Ø On the very occasion of Global Entrepreneurship week, UCIE organized a session on 'We are Entrepreneurs' on 17th November 2017 in the Energy House Board Room, UPES in which an award winning entrepreneur, Mr. Rahul Bhatnagar was invited in order to enlighten the students with his business experiences and real life learnings.
Ø UCIE conducted an Industry Awareness Program on Financial Support to MSMEs in ZED Certification Scheme on 23rd November 2017 at Vivekananda Auditorium. The aim of the event was to sensitize the incubatee organizations of UCIE with ZED scheme along with providing them an opportunity to interact with Industry leaders from uttarakhand.
Ø Team UCIE participated in TiE – Con 2017 on 15-16th December 2017 at the Taj Diplomatic Enclave, New Delhi. This conference witnessed participation of over 1500 participants varying from corporate sponsors, partners, investors, start-up founders and government officials.

Ø In continuation with UCIE’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship amongst UPES fraternity, Centre has conducted the Faculty Development Program on Entrepreneurship at Vivekananda Auditorium on 17-18th January 2018.
Ø UCIE hosted Ms. Maya Bathija, author of “Paisos” on 19th January 2018 to deliver a talk to students about doing business, sharing successful business stories around the world.
Ø In view of Centre’s commitment to develop the Startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem, UCIE had organized Startup Round Table on 20th January 2018this event in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
